Playoffs? Don't talk about playoffs. You kidding me? Playoffs?
Yeah, I'm talking about playoffs, as much as that may upset Jim Mora.
But no, I'm talking about the playoff system.
The change in the Missouri playoff system allows for two teams to make it from each district. That's fine and dandy in all but one situation, Class 5.
The good folks at MSHSAA have 11 districts in Class 5, which means 22 teams make the postseason.
My buddy Ross Martin has a blog entry that helps break down exactly what is happening here.
I'll add this to his entry. Every district winner gets a first-round bye except one team in the St. Louis area.
On the KC side, these brackets are going to have the biggest effect on Districts 10 and 11 (see below). The winners of these districts will play each other in the first round (Kind of like they did back in the old days of 2007). The rest of the district winners get first round games against district-runner ups.
