The Shawnee Mission West boys bowled the best three-game score in program history on Thursday, scoring a 2,796.
It was senior night for the Vikings at AMF West, but the star of the afternoon was freshman Matt Beeghly, who bowled a 763 series – with games of 236, 279 and 248.
Junior Jared Aronson (707), senior Adam Lewis (691) and junior Joey Parrack (635) rounded out the scoring for the Vikings, who defeated SM Northwest and Olathe East.
“They came out ready to bowl tonight,” SM West coach Renee Stevens said. “They were feeling it.”
Beeghly has been a pleasant surprise and significant addition to an already strong Vikings team.
While he has prior bowling experience, the SM West coaches didn’t know much about him before tryouts. But they sure do now.
So far, it’s been quite a success.
Through their first five meets, the Gardner Edgerton boys had won four and was second to Shawnee Mission West in the other, coach Mike Zegers said.
