Football Scores
The Olathe schools will, as usual, be well represented at the 6A state bowling tournaments Friday and Saturday.
The Olathe North girls won their regional with a 2,235 team score and impressive top-10 efforts from Tina Moore and Kendra Marr. The teammates each rolled 587 series, placing sixth and seventh, respectively.
The Olathe East girls also advanced as a team after a second-place regional finish, thanks in large part to a pair of similarly skilled sisters. Brooklyn Ellis was the regional runner-up with a 605 series, while Brenda Ellis finished third with a 604.
And while the Olathe Northwest girls didn’t make it, Ravens senior Jennifer Wood will return to the state tournament as a top contender. Wood, who placed third at state last year, qualified individually with a fourth-place regional finish.
On the boys side, Olathe Northwest’s Jesse Foulk (third at regionals) and Brad Keepes (sixth) are individual state qualifiers. Ryan Engle (eighth) will represent the Olathe North boys. And Garrett Hayhow (ninth) represents Olathe South.
The 6A girls state meet starts at 2 p.m. Friday at Olathe Lanes East, and the 6A boys begin at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Gardner Edgerton’s Alex Thompson advanced to the 5A-1A boys state tournament (4 p.m. Saturday at West Acres Bowling Center in Wichita) as an individual qualifier.
