When Trey Daniel opted to play tennis last spring for Blue Valley North, Mustangs coach Ann Dark never had a doubt he’d be the Kansas 6A state champion. “I knew what a great player he was from USTA tournaments and just word of mouth, so I knew he’d be a pretty special player,” Dark said. “Honestly, yeah, I expected him to be an undefeated state champion.” If Daniel felt any pressure with such lofty expectations, it never showed.
