For the last 9 years, Pembroke Hill has been close many times, but has not been able to win this soccer tournament....until now. After 3 hard games, The Pembroke Hill Raiders won the championship of The Kansas City Classic Soccer Tournament 2009. As Coach Pritchett stated "it has been a long time but these kids earned it." This year the Pembroke Raiders have 11 Seniors on their varsity team & this team can run & pass. In this tournament; Pembroke Senior Raider #14, Ross Payne, made 9 goals in 3 games! With the fast passing of his team mates, Ross moves up & cuts the defensive player & hits the far corner away from the goalie. This team, if they have no injuries & continue to play as a team as they did in this tournament---- they may be a hard team to stop. There's still a lot of games left & only time will tell. However, with the teamwork shown at this tournament, The Pembroke Raiders may be like Kansas City Christian, Wichita Trinity, Rosehill, Independence, St. Thomas Aquantis and other top high school soccer teams have been in past years -- hard to beat!
