On this cold night two high school soccer teams were going to be meeting again for a night to remember. Earlier this season, Kansas Cit Christian played a hard game against DeSoto High School and won. This time, DeSoto was out not to let it happen again as KCCS has done in years past. In the first half,KCCS dominated the offense as good as DeSoto dominated the defenses, which left it the score tied at 0-0 as the first half ended. In the second half, DeSoto came out faster & more aggressive. with less than 12 minutes left, DeSoto scored when the ball when throug the KCCS goalie's hand, hit the bar & went in & scored the first goal for DeSoto. Then, with less than 2 minutes left in the game, DeSoto headered the ball past the backup goalie & scored, making the final score DeSoto 2 - KCCS 0.
This was the first time in over 8, maybe 9 years, KCCS has not gone to State Soccer. KCCS has played against DeSoto in years past and continued to go to State and win. This year, it is DeSoto's turn. Congratulations to both teams for a good game & to DeSoto for winning the KSHSAA Regionals --- Next stop -- STATE!
